We have a balance of $706.37) seven huudred and six and thirty-seven ojie-hundredths dollars in the hands of the treasurer. This wil] leave ($2,629.46) twenty-six hundred and twenty-nine and fortj'-six one-hundredths dollars to be provided for. We would respectfully ask your honorable body to appropriate the sum of twenty-five hundred dollars ($2500.00), and with no preventing disease or other extraordinary expenses, we will do what we can to keep our expenses within that limit. All of which is respectfully submitted by the undersigned superintendents of the poor of Washtenaw county. ElJSHA LOOMIS, ClIARLES H. KeMPF, E. P. Masox. The report was read, accepted and ordered referred to the Conunittee to Settle with the Superintendents of the Poor, and ordered printed with the proceedings. Mr. Case moved that the Prosecutinfj Attorney take thenecessary steps to collect the amount due the r.ouuty from the estates of Rhoda Estabrook and Elizabeth Peyton, iusane. Carried. The Clerk presented a statement from the Ann Arbor Savings Bank, showing the amount of money on hand Oct. lst, 1896, which was referred to the Committee to Settle with County Offlcers. On motion of Mr. Wood the Board took a recess. AFTERNOON SESSION. The board met pursuant to adjournment. Roll called and quorum present. Judson, sheriff, balance of board bill ?526 23 $528 23 Mr. Hall, from the Committee of the whole to visit the Couuty House, made the following report which was adopted : The Board of Supervisors, in Committee of the whole visited the County Poor House and farm Thursday, Oct. 15th, to inspect the same and report the condition thereof. We find the farm to have been svell managed, the barns and outbuildings in good order, the stock in good condition. The house in every particular is in good order. We received no complaints from the inmates, and their appearance showed that they receive good care. We commènd the administration of the Superintendents of the Poor, and also endorse the conductof Mr. and Mrs. Shankland, keeper and matron of the institution. Wm. Hall, Chairman of Committee. On motion of Mr. Miner the Clerk was instructed to procure 35 copies of Michigan Election Law. Carried. On motion of Mr. Bailey the Board adjourned. John R. Miner, Chairman. Wsi. Dansingburg, Clerk. The Board met pursnant to adjournment. Roll called and quorum present. The hour for the election of a Superintendent of the Poor liaving arrived, the cliair appoiuted as tellers Messrs. Davenport and Danion. The ballot resulted as follows: Tracy L. Towner received 15 votes and Chas. H. McCorinick received 11 votes. Tracy L. Towner declared elected. Mr. Case moved that the bill of Jacob Staffan be referred back to the coznmittee with instructions to remodel the same so as lo conform to the rules of the Board. Carried.
