To the Honorable Board of Supervisors: Gentlemen - : Your committee on public buildings eg leave respectfully to submit their eport and to report the transactions of ie committee since the last annual ession of your Honorable Body. Your committee have assembled many imes during the year and have had a arge number of matters under their onsideratiou relatiug to the buildings elonging to the county. We have aused to be constructed on the outer 'indows of the prison department of ie jail, steel screens, closing the winow on the south side with boiler iron n pursuance of the direction of your honorable Body. This work was done y contract to the lowest bidder and eems satisfactory and to fully accom)Iish the purpose intended. Manly, Secretary of the Soldier's Relief Commission, presented the following report which was adopted and ordered printed. soldiers & sailors report To the Board of Supervisors of Washtenaw County: We, the undersigned members of the Soldiers' Relief Commission would most respectfully report that they have expended in the relief of indigent Union Soldiers, Sailors and Marines aud indigent wives, widows and minor children of such indigent or deceased Union Soldiers. Sailors and Marines as required by Section 5, Act 253, of Sessions Laws of 1895, to the sum of five hundred anc twenty-one dollars and forty cents, of wliich amount $129 was paid on the order of members of the Board of Supervisors. The Board would recommend that the sum of one thousand dollars be raiset for the year 1897, as required by the act above referred to. The Board of Commissioners would respectfully ask your honorable body to pass a resolution allowing the members of said commission the sum of ten cents a mile oue way as mileage for the same' to fake effect Jan 1, 1896. To the Board of Supervisors: The undersigned being desirous of assisting the Board in maintaining an economical administration of county affairs, hereby recommend the adoption of the annexed resolutions. Resolved, That hereafter charges for ooking up evidence in criminal cases, and charges of officers in looking after supposed crimináis will not be audited }y this Board unless the following reguions are strictly adhered to : lst. No charges will bepaid for lookng up testimony in any criminal case ! unless the officer doing such work shall '■ irst be authorized in writing by the 1 Prosecuting Attorney to perform the ' same. Mr. Bibbins offered the following : Resolved, That hereafter all bilis audited by the Board of Supervisors for expense incurred by the burial of deceased soldiers, sailors, or marines be authorized by the agent appointed by said Board for such work unless in case of vacancy or absence from township or ward.
