Tliis motio was printed on tlie stationery, and thereafter in their conversation correspoiidence, and agaiii appeared when eouvention was in sesion, on a mammoth steatner stretched across the spadous platform. Music Hall, in exposition Building where the convention was held, was a seeiie of benuty aud interest. ïhere were baiiners and baiiuers, elegant, tasteful, and suggesiive ; there were liags froin tliis and other uounuies including a pathetic little Armeiiian flag, to tlie Union Jac-k, and the stars and stripes as appealing i'or protection tu the two great natious which they resented. The number of voting delegates n.attendance, were three hundred aud niuty-üve, eacli of wiioui represented tíve hundred nieinbers. Besideb these there were many visiting delegates aud distinguished guest from abroad, including Miss Agües Slack oí England, Secretary oí the world's W. C. T. U. Fifty of the original crusaders were present. The requesithat those present who atteuded the eleventh annual convention, held in the same city twelve ago shouid rise, brought ouly twenty to their feet. Total number of new members gained during the year 15,888. Michigan was oue 01 eight states tliat gained more than flve hundred, thereby being entitled to one-eighth of the receipts of Benefit night. A great loss of members by death ; one state alone having lost 700 members this year. At the great Annenian mass meeting held Sunday afternoon, $1,000 were raised for the relief fuud. A resolution in the form of a plea in behalf of the distressed Arnienians was seeonded by the entire audieiice, numbering not less than 5,000 people, and ordered to be sent to the president of the Ü. S. The grand demonstration evening wilh which the conveution closed was a one object lesson, showing the work of the VV. C. T. U. through its various departinents. It was greatly appreciated. The city press gave extended and favorable repons each day of the great meeting.
