Press collabor&tor who oollates literary curios for the public to devour - in their mind - thus saith : "The midwinter circus of the Ann Arbor Light Infantry has, by oommon consent, been declared the greatest and best ever held in Ann Arbor. The only casualtles of note were sustalned by the principal clowns. Ex-Mayor Beakes, to avoid a crack f rom the ring master's whlp, exeouted a sudden 'touclidown' on his aerated rubber stomach, which exploded wlth a l'oud detonation, shatterlng both the stomach and several plate glass abont the city. His lijver was picked from the lcwer trapeze, by Prof Granger, who was hanging by his feet head downward, ïrom the upper swing. Beakes proved that It was his liver, by exhibitlng the inltials, IS. "W. B.' carred thereon. It was put back by Surgeon Nancrede and the mld-wlmter clown ia all righi agaln. Hte companion Dromio Mayor Walker, la spiite of the remonstrance8 of the management, inslsted, ■in bad votee, on trylng to sing 'Sweet Marie' and a tent pole feil on him break Ing hls neck. Hifl oorpse was thrown to the lions who crunched the remaina amld the thunderous acclamations of the populace."
