Editor of the Courier : Dear Sir :- I notice, with eome tlegree of humor, the action of several leg-islatures in. attempting to enact a law against the high hats, or large Iiiatg, sometimes worn by ladies in the theatre or at public entertainraente. White I must admit that the lady who weiars such a hat at such a place shows very poor taste, yet I think that the liadiies have a just cause for camplaint as well, lo the abominable custom of men, old and young, of getting up and going Out between acts. Why not have a; luw profaibitlng that nuisance ? One is as annoying as the other. The ladies otostruct the view, perhaps, of some who are se&ted behind them ; the young men ruin their souls by filling their bodies with a Hquid that steals their maibhood, their honor, and their self respect. I say thia because it is generally uiDiderstood that when a man leaves the theatre between acts that he dioes not go juet for the iun of going, but for the purpose of getting a drink of Hquor oí some sort. Why not hare an amendment made to the law proMbitlng the wearing of high bats by ladies, so that no person sfoall be allowed to rush out between acts to "see a man 1" Let us liare justice all around. Very truly yours,
