Store Windows are radiant with Sprin goods ; the gay eolors contrastin strongly with the dreary outside aspee of leaden clouds and scurrying snow flakes, which belong to mid-winte The reianing fancies of the coming sea son for cotton fabrics, linens, challies ogandies or silks, are "all over "de signs, or stripes, but the former bein the newest, are in the greatest demane But a faint idea of the variety of tbes patterns can be conveyed ; embracin all Nature's floral wealth from th smallest to the largest product, withou any fidelity to her Qoloring, in additio to " waving ribbon" designs, scroll pa terns, leaf outlines or dots, and throug some of the materials so richly orna mented (as in lawns) run open work lac stripes or tambour work, giving almos an appearance of confusión. ALTERNATING PLATS AND FLORAL STRIPES of all widths or colora are noticeable in ginghams, organdíes or grass linens, which are again very fashionable, or the zig-aag embroidered work peculiar to lappels which are in renewed favor; but the preservation of all these lovely shades is insured by the use of Ivory soap, causing them to hold as long as the material lasts. As a contrast to gay cottons, plain colored " ladies cloth " is in (Iemand for Spring suits, which the initiated say will be the leading material for this purpose, and the fancy for plain stuffs enhances the popularity of velutina, which ia now seen even in geutlemen's furnishing stores. Covert cloths, Scotch mixtures, or plaiu colored canvas wools, will come in for a share of general favor, but wool check are decidedly on the decline. . SPRING SHIRT WAI8TS have smaller "bishop sleeves' or a medium size " leg o' mutton " shape, and three crosswise tucks on the yoke at back and front, two or four lengthwise tucks down the back (with a plain yoke) or a doublé frill at the front, constitute the principal differences. Stiff white linen collars and cuffs (sometimes cut in points) will be worn again, and waists of canvas, baptiste, or organdy, are made with colored sateen linings, and a sleeve linin? in coat sleeve shape is considered most desirable. Silk waists will come up again, and as a matter ei course the independent skirt will resume its ascendancy. HIGH CROWNS predomínate in straw hats ; eolors or weaves being variously oombined, and a hat of one texture throughout is an " Silk straw " is the term ipplied to a glistening straw, combining seautifnlly with colored weaves or Neo volitan, and contrast is tlie key-note o Spring millinery. Tlie bell crown re ippears, also the Directoire, high pointed crowns are on sinall hats ; bu the most striking one curves in at the centre and out again at the top anc where it is set on the briin. Hats of al sizes are showu and just now the straight around brim is in the majority ïsually turned up at the back, other shapes, liowever, are tilted a little to one side, which is always jaunty and lecoming. PINK, PALB GREEN, vliife, or heliotrope straws (an excepou) will be worn very young peo)le, and white Cuba straws bound with ihick velvet, are of very light weight, nd tlierefore well adapted to mid-summer. It is yet an open questiou, whether Urge or small íiowers will predomínate, as both are shown in great nunibers ; but geraniums, carnatious, hyaeiuths, morning-stlories, apple blossoms, lilies-of-the-valley, pansies and single or doublé violets are of such exquisite manufacture, that they must be important factors. Foliage combined witli berries is lovely, and high bunches of small flowers brought out ready for use, justify the conclusión that trimmings will keep pace with crowns. Green is more in favor than ever, in both dirss eoods or millinery, and severa] shades of crimsou will enliven pale hues. Pink and cerisc have not lost pnpnl rit; , uil bluett or navy blue are too u - ful and becoming to be relin(jui-h Heliotrope and purple of all luii ■ lost attractive, golden brown high au)on; stylisli tinl.s, and f, purplish blue so far the ie noveity.
