The statistics of the dwelfin-gs families in Michigan, compiled by tlte. Department of State from the census oí 1S94, shows that the number of dweüings in the State at that time was 483,685, an increase of 49,315 since 1S80. Of the total number 168,118, or ;!4.7 per cent. were in the incorpórate! cities. On a basis of a total poputatiot. of 2,241,(541, the average number o; persons to a dwelling was 4.63. Tkers were 15,233 dwellings occupied by thee than by any other number. The number of families reported in the State wae 506,779, or 10,064 more families than dwellings, indicating that 20,094 lamilies live more than one fainily in a dwelling. The average number of perscms to e. family was 4.42. "There were 17,1 families of one person, and (!48 of tweatyone persons or over. The averare number of persons in a family in tfce incorporated cities was 4.50, and ir. county ontside of cities 4.:SS. - The ludi cator.
