The correspondent of the Detroit Free Press semls his journal these two pleasing paragraphs, for tlie Uuiversity people : " Graduates of Aun Albor, wlio but a short time ago were students in tliat fainous natitution, ure making wonderful slrides in public lite. Marión De Vries, '.vho representa the Stockton (California) district in the nevv cougress, will be the youngest member oL the house. He was graduated from Ann Arbor in the class of 1S8S and is oue of the brightest of the 'freshmen' congressinen. He has been described as a populist in newapaper reporte, a designation that makes bim very angïy. He is a straight-out Deniocrat and don't care who knovvs it. "Judge William H. King, who wil be the solé representaíive of Utali in this congress, is another Ann Arbo man who graduated in the sanie cías with De Vries. íle has had a brilliaii career, but never tires of praising hi alma mater."
