It Wiis u startüng word passed from mouth to mout h last Friday, that announced to friends the death on that morningof Sarali F. Xortli, wife of Dr. Willard B. Smith, of E. Iïuron street. She had been ill hut a short time, and the communiry was astomshed to hear of her death. The following artille was prepared bv Rev. W. II. Bartram, e friend of the family : ' M.TB. Smith was bom in l'almyra, N. Y., April 17. 1839, where slie spent the happy daya of lier childhood, and in 1854 carne with her mother and brotlier to Michigan - mar ried to Dr. W. B. Smith in 1863, with whom she lived in loving and helpful 'companionöliip iint.il called to the higher lite. In early life she gave herself to the thonghtful study of reliitioua traths, and early identitied herself with the churcli of wbicb she remained a faithful member during life. Her life and its miuistrations among the sorroiving and needy around her, will be remembered by the manv whom she (ihpered along the pathway of this life, and her death is uionrned by a large fircle of friends who had known and loved her many year.s. A great, many friends gathered at her late residence, May 31st, to pay their tribute of love and respect to her devoted life, but after a brief nut toudiing funeral service all that was mortal was laid away to await the resurrection of the jnst. To her bus hand and ouly dnughter she leaves the heritage of a earnest conscientious christian life, and to her neighbors an example worthy of imitation. This world was blessed in hor life, and Imaven is richer because she has entered in to claim tlie promise of Him who said " be thou faithful unto death and 1 will give thee a crown of" life."
