Turtle As A Fox Trap
C. E. Perry, of Herrick, í'a., bas Deen íattening a 20-pound snapping turtle all winter. One Sunday his turtleship was taken out of the barrel 'and allowed to wander abowt the yard. Early one morning recently Perry was aroused by the noise of a scuffle in the yard. Eepairing there, he found the turtle hanging1 to the nose of a big1 fox, which had been stealing from the henneries in the vicinity for a month. Br'er Fox was near the f ence endeavoring to get over, but his efforts were blocked by the turtle, Evenitually the fox reached the next yard, but Farmer Përry followed and shot hkn dead. The turtle all the timp, retained his hold and refused to let g-o until the fox's nose was cut off. Then it crawled back to its home, carrying the nose wirth it as a trophy.
