The annual Fourtli of July picnic at Whitmore Lake will this year be given ander the auspices and for the benefit of the new St. Thomas' Catholic church, Aan Arbor. The people of the neighboring parislies have been invited to attend and the public generally is also bidden to be there and receive a cordial welcome. The Ann Arbor Railroad bas given a special reduced rate for the picnic which will be held Monday, July 5, the fare to Whitmore Lake being placed at 25 cents for the round trip irom Ann Arbor. The round trip fare from Howell will be 30 cents. Correspondingly low rates from other points and on other roails. Dinner consisting of roast beef, chicken pot pie, pork and beans, spring lamb, bread, country butter, tea or coffee, cake, salads etc; all for 25 cents, will be served at noon. During the dinner time the Salem "Coon" Band with 12 performers will give color to the occasion. At tliree o'clock the regular program will begin. The first speech of the day will be made by the Hon. T. J. McDonald, of Toledo, who is justly considered one of the most eloquent lawyers of Ohio. Speeches will be given likewise by the Hon. Mayor of Ann Arbor, Mr. Hiscock, and by Henry Conlin a young attorney of great proniise. The musical part of the program will be given by select sinsrers from Aun Arbor. Jim Harkins, Bruno St. James, Joseph Kelly, llenry Meuth, Frank Mclntyre and the Miases Francés Caspary, May Clarken and Lizzie Kinney always please when they sing. Miss Xellie Brown will preside at the piano. Dean Seabolt and Jim Harkins will introducá some new specialties of their own. Father GoWrick will, in his own happy style, act as toastmaster. After the program is over a balloon ascensión and parachute drop will be made by Prof. Rooney. The first excursión train will than return to Anii Arbor and everybody will certainly be pleased by .their days outing in the country. A good dinner, good niusic, good speeches will make the day oue long to be remembered. Lawrence O'Toole has douated a White sewing machine on which chances will be sold.
