I reckou it's rlght, but f omehow I'm alwajs wantin" to know Jest why the good lord took her frum the ones that loved her so? Minister says: ' 'Twas to bring us all close in the master's keep;" But lor her I'd take my chances out with tbe poor, lost sheep! lï I only kiiowed she was llvln' - thar, whar she used to be- If only she had the daylight, an' the darkness come to me ! If only, when the shadders come up from the (iloomy west, I coul'd here the mother cali in' her home, nn' rocking her still t6 rest ! But ehe's gone the way that we all must go, an' the mother an' me must moan ; She wuz such a little bit of a thiug to go iu the dark alone! But sweet, an' uncomplainin' she lived her happy day; I ain't afeared on Death to look since the little one went that way !
