A FTench missionary in China witnessed recently how two of his carriers werc bitten by a rabid dog and was very much worried aboui it, says Modorn Medicine. Several Chínese wbo happened to be there tokl him thut his worry was absolutely unoalled for, since they had an vmdóubtedly safe prevontive against the poison of a rabid dog taking effect, and to prove the assertion five Chiiiamen who had been bitten in March of last year by a mad were presented to the missionary. He found that Cliinamen eat of the raw liver of a mad dog after beinp bitten, and ii they partake of this vdthin a given time after the accident, it is said they will not be subject to hydrophobia. It is curious that Plinius in his natural history recominends the liver of a mad dog1, if bitten, as raw aa possible, nnd they ■who could not swallow the liver raw should have it oooked and drink the broth therefrom. It Is not positiveJy known whether tbis remedy Is effioacious, but it appears to be worthy of inTestigation, partioilarly since this seems to be the actual beginning of the Isopathic treatment since perfected by Pasteur and Koch.
