Mayor H&rding is home again. Prof. Sherzer has returned froui his vacation. Mrs. L. R. Bishop has returned home to Cadillac. Mrs. George C. Smithe has gone to Toronto, Ont. The electric light towers are gradually being replaced. The Ypsilanti delegation at Portage Lake Sunday numbered 68. Thomas Judd had his left foot crushed by a falling beam last Friday. Rev. R. K. Wharton lias gone to Pennsylvauia to visit his old home. The folks from here anticípate a good time on the W. R. C. excursión Aug. 3. John Watson, who will teach at the Soo the coming year, has gone to Ada. Mrs. Jennie B. Kinnie and Misses Florence and Genevieve, have gone to Charlevoix. D. M. Uhl is entertaining his grauddaughter Mrs. Guy Thompson, of New Haven, Conn. The gas coinpany here are putting in a great many ranges, having placed 40 in the past two months. The $500 wanted íor the bicycle path has been raised by the Times, and $1.50 to spare. Tliat's business. George Wise whose paren ts live here, has secured a position as book-keeper at the Cadillac hotel on Broadway, N. Y. L. E. Champlain of this city has booked himself for the Klondyke gold fields. He doesn't expect to start until next Fabruary. The Cleary College summer school, which closes week after next, lias been a success, and will net about $200 for the stockholders. Dr. Heuston is generously donating cañe material to liis frieuds from the tirnbers of the old stoop he is tearing away, the same having stood there over 60 years. A new style tandem was on the street yesterday ; it had four legs, long ears and a tail. Three boys were riding it.- Ypsilantian. And do you cali that a new style? The new State Telephone line is uow doing business, and you can talk with Detroit for ten cents. There are four cities now conriected Detroit, Monroe, Mt. Clemens and Ypsilanti. As Rev. Dr. Ryau has completed a five years pastorate of the M. E. chnrch liere, he cannot return another year, and a new man is being looked up. A suggestion has been made that Rev. Dr. Allen, the presiding eider of that district would be acceptable all around. Cramer " Keinarc's" in the Times iu a way that is childlike and bland. Sunday occured the death of Samuel Campbell, at liis home in Chicago avenue. Mr. Campbell received a stroke of paralysis two years ago and has been nearly liel))less since that time. He was seventy-two years old and leaves a wife and two sous, Edward and Anson Campbell. Tlie funeral was held yeaterday afternoon.- Commercial. Chas. Dougherty, Box 114 Ypsilanti, Mich., bas some important news for the heirs, if any exist, of John Smith. John was boru liere in 1840, was a brickmaker by trade, went to Pennsylvania in 1802, enlisted in the army, served to the close, went to Arizona, got rich, died awhile ago, left a big fortune and no heirs. Now all you Smith fainilv prove property and take it. The colored people of Ypsilanti will have a grand celebration of Emancipation Day this year. August 2 will be duly celebrated, and on August 3 and 4 the Grand Lodge of colored Knights of Pythias, E. and W. H. and Auxilliary Court of Calanthe will holdtheir animal session, nnder auspices of Eureka Lodge, No. 2, K. P., and Mary Magdalene Court No. 1. The railroad offer reduced rates.
