Prof. F. R. Mechem bas returued home. Miss Cora Robison is at Portage Lake for the week. Miss Minnie Caldwell is visiting lier sister at Saline. Miss Auna Harrison is visiting friends in Fort Wayne Lid. Mis. Elmer Lyman bas goiie to El Dorado Springs, Mo. Mrs. E. L. Seyler left yesterday for a week's stay in Detroit. Clement Eberhardt bas gone to Dun. kirk, Obio, for a few days. Eugene J. Koch is at Detroit and St. Clair Flats for a few weeks. Miss Johanna Stanger returned Friday from her vacation trip. Miss Mabel Carson was a guest over Sunday of friends at Lansing. Mrs. John F. Avery, of Church st., is visiting her brotber in Kansas. Miss Grace Moore bas returned from her visit with friends in Detroit. Prof. C. E. Goddard, of the U. of M., has been atPetoskey for a few days. Fred Dansingburg bas been traveling through Obio during the week past. Miss Minnie Beal, of Northville, is the guest of Aun Arbor relatives for a time. Evart Scott and family will return from Cavanaugh Lake íor a time, this week. IMiss Alice Hoachj of Lansing, is a guest of friends here and at Whitmore Lake. Miss Mollie Stark. who has been the guest of friends in Dexter, has returned home. Mrs. Bond, of X. Thayer St., has gone to Nortli Lake for a couple of weeks. Prof. and Mrs. Trowbridge have gone to Portage Lake for a stay of some weeks. Prof. de Pont expects to go to Canada in a few days for a short visit with friends. Miss Auna Sayer, of Dayton, 0., is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Nickles, of N. Fifth Ave. Mrs. J. A. Brown and son Harry, have been guests of Jackson friends during the week. Morman Flowers, a former U. of M. Daily editor, has been in the city for a day or two. The engagement of Miss Gertrude Divine aud Mr. W. W. Ritter of West Va., is anuounced. Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Lyrnan, of Norwalk, Ohio, are the latest additions to Ann Arbor citizens. Slrs. Frank Camp was ealled to her home in Manchester Monday, hy the illness of her mother. Rev. T. W. Young and family have returned from a three week's encampment at Portage Lake. H. B. Dewey, of Owosso, has been in the city for a few days receiving treatment for his weak eyes. Prof. Max Winkler and Miss Sel ma Winkler of this city, are at the Roaring Brook Inn for the season. Miss Minnie Drake has been spending the past week or ten days at Mackinac Island and on Lake Huron. Dr. Cleaver, of Willmar, is spending his vacation with liis parents Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Cleaver, on Cliurch st. J. Q. A. Session and wife will live at 41 Forest ave. the coming year, having reuted their home on E. William st. Robert Gauss, who has been the guest of friemls in Pontiac, is back again at his post in the First National Bank. A very happy family reunión was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. Flynn, of Washtenaw ave., on Sunday last. Mr. and Mrs. Will C. Hollands, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Miller and Mr. and Mrs. George Apfel, will spend a couple of weeks at the former's cottage, at St. Clair Flats. Rev. Father Goldrick, of St. Patrick's churcli, Northfleld, w:is called to Cleveland Mondar morning, by the illness oí, his brother. Mrs. Ewart, of Detroit, is a guest of Mis. B. F. Watts, of S. Fourth Ave., for several weeks. Mr. and Mis. Heman M. Woods and family expect to return home frotn Cavanaugh Lake thia week. Mrs. Geo. Holden, nee Kate Cramer, has a son, who carne to the home of its parents last Friday morning. J. F. Thomas, assistant in the University libran-, has goue to his home at South Bend, Ind., for a three week's stay. Miss Bessie Maynard, of E. Liberty st., has been entertaiuing her cousin Miss Gertrude McEwen, of Mason, during the week. Wm. Goodyear visited the city Saturday, but the dullness of town soon tired him out and lie returned to his camp at Portage Lake. The Misses Margie and Anna Knowlton, who have been guests of Judge Lane and family at Adrián, have returned home. It was a jol] y load that of the choir boys of St. Andrew's church on their war to a week's camp at Whitniore Lake Monday morning. On Friday last Miss Maud Turck and the Misses Gretta and Belle Mullison left for Clarke's Lake, Jackson Co., for a months stay. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Gasser, of Cleveland, O., stopped over in the city Friday last, on their way home froni a vacation trip up north. The people who own and keep open house at Pot Luck Club Cottage, Zukey Lake, had entertained 198 visitors this season up to last Satúrela}-. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. F. Wade, of Jonesville, and -Mrs. Chas. Turner, of Trinidad, Coló., were guest of Secretar}' Jas. H. Wade the flrst of the week. Col. Henry S. Dean went to Colorado last Friday, to see Mrs. Dean's brother, who is quite out of health, and if possible bring hiui back here to Ann Arbor. About twenty of the-young friends of Miss Minnie DePue, of N. División st., gave her a happy surprise party Saturday afternoon, that being lier birthday. Wm. G. Barker, a Y. M. C. A. boy, du his way to New York City froui his home in Leavenworth, Kas., by wheel, was a caller at the Y. M. C. A. rooms Monday. Mrs. Doctor Siler and little daughter, of Dayton, O., who have been visiting Mrs. Siler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alanson Moore, of X. Thayer st., return home to-day. Mr. Alfred Schairer and Mr. William Staebler have returned from their vacation spent at Mr. and Mrs. .1. F. Staebler's on the Dixboro road. A pleasant time is reported. Dr. and Mrs. H. A. March, of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Briggs, of Elm st. Dr. March graduated trom the medical department iu 1886. Master Willard Boutwell entertaineil his young friends at tbe home of bis grandfather, Dr. W. B. Smith of E. Huron st., Saturday last, that beinj: bis fifth umiversary. Capt. A. C. Pack and wife of Ann Anbor, drove over here Saturday to visit a few daya with the Robisons and other friends. We were favored with a cali from Mr. Pack.- Manchester Enterprise. Will Leonaul, who was a member of tbe bindery force way back in tbe 60's aud 70's, was a caller at tbe Courieb office Monday. He now lives in Lansin, and was accompanied by his son who was as large, in stature at least, as his father. Mrs. Xelson Sutherland, of this city, Mrs. Clara Billings, of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Mills, of Pittsfield, and Misses Viola and Lulu Lusby, of the city, are occupying the JuniperHill cottage at Island Lake this week. Mrs. Annie Besant, the well kuown writer aud distinguished orator, will be found at the Cook House Friday 2-4 p. m., and Saturday forenoon, where sbe would like to meet auy who wish to ask questionsconcerning Theosophy. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Sawyer gave a very fiue summer party at Cavanaugh Lake on Thursday evening last. Tlie beautiful grounds were delightfully. illuminated and the affair was a charming one.
