The Little Old Shoe
It is only a tiny shoe - . That she touches with tender care A üunning little bit of a thing That a baby used to wear. And she gently raisea it to her lips And lovingly holds it there. It is worn and faded and old, But it bríngs up tho hi-.ppy past. Sho saclly Bighs ixh she thinks of the Joyt ïhat were too sweet to last. In fancy she sees a little child Ah it gambols upon the floor. An elfliku creature with golden hair Is cooing a baby song once more. And a tear drops down on the tiny shoft That the beautiful dream child wore. "Ah, well," she slghs to herself, " 'Tis, alas, the will of the fatesl I used to ie able to wear this shoe But now I take nuznber eights."
