At the election tliis fall the fate of two Republican senators will be decidedHanna, of Ohio, and Gear, of Iowa. As Gear's tertn does not expire until 1991, the result of the Iowa senatorial contest will not effect the composition of the senate uutill that time. But Hauna is one of the thirty who go out ia March, 1899. ïlie other twentynine stand or fall by the result of the election in the fall of 18US. Of the thirty, these are almostcertaiu either to succeed themselves or to be succeeded by senators of the sanie pollics : Republicana- Hawley, Hale, Lodge, Proctor, Aldrich, Quay, Burrows, Davis and Hanna, Total ''. The remainiug twelve will have to fight against the results of the election uext fall.
