The American people showed CODCÏUSively last November tliat they had no svinpathy with the Freö-Trade lean-ing.s, bnt they all agree with the "Review of Reviews" in saying that "one of the worst mistakes the country had made i-i many years was the permission it gave to the Democratie party to tear np the McKinley Tariff." In fact they are quite agreed that it was not onlv "one of the worst mistakes" but quite the worst mistake w:eever made. Here are soine of the "genis" uttered at a recent meeting of tlie Debs' Social Democracy organization in Chicago receutly: "Tl. e blood of an idlë useless :;risti cracy is the most convenient mediuru for neurishing the tree of liberty." "For every minor killed and wounded ;i iniliioiiaire shonld be treated in the .same inanner." The millionaire class is responsible for thp shuiiiliter of Sept. 10, and we regard the torch as the most successful weapon to wie ld against them." "The minera should carry arms and use them, too." "The time lias come to meet force with forcé. I should havetold them to slioot to kill. I would kill 0 millionaires to-day." "I will not carry a musket. I will carry a torch and a knife, and I wil I curry bota as far as J can. I would attack property with tlie torch ; I would destroy their fine palaces. Let us rebel when men are shot down as as they were in Pennsylvania." "An eye for an eye; and a tooth foratooth." And so on for hours with similar utterances. There is danger in the air when such sentiment8 are allowed public expression. This is a free government, but free only in the sense that every person'8 rights must be protected. The sure way to disrupt this government is to allow that class to pollute its monde They should be banished - sent back to their native countries.
