Aid. Cady acted as president protem. Dr. J. N. Martin and othersasked for the passage of an ordinance prohibiting the erection or maintanance of livery barns within presscribed limita, and the city attorney presented sucli an ordinance and it was giveu its first reading. W. W. Nichols and 15 otliers asked for an electric light at tlie corner of Ilill and Lincoln sts. The action of the B. I'. W. in prohihitiug the moving of buildings through the streets, was severely "squelclied." Attorney Knasell, of the M. C. E. B. notified tlie city that she must appear in court to defend a suit brought by Bdson Wetherbee for damages sustained by iiim at ttie overhead bridge on Beakes st. over the M. C. R. R. tracks, as the R. R. denies being liable for its inaintenance and repairs. Tlns gave the city attorney another job. The council's own action as a board of review on Sewer district No. 7, was approved by itself as a council. The sum of $580 was allowed ou sewer dist. No. 6. A resolution was offered, sigued by Aids. Moore, Cady, Grossman, Soule and Dell, reininding the B. P. V. that the charter requires thetn to proceed without delay to perfonn such work as tlie couucil inay order. The reaolution received only two votes, Aid. Moore and Cady when it carne to the crucial test of a vote. Briek crosswalks were ordered on northeast side of Washtenaw uve. acrosa Wilmot st., and on Liberty straight uot diagonally- across First st. (Lets see. The fuud these are built from was $422.30 overdrawn Oct. lst, and add the bilis allowed Monday eveuing, and it is $1,118.36 short). Add to that the ainount ü- lowed above and it will he short $4,506.95. The action of the last meeting refusing Mrs. Bach compensution for gravel taken froni lier lot was reconsidered and referred back to finauce committee.
