A Curious Epitaph

The following epitaph is copied front a tomb in the vicinity of Port Roy al, Jamaica: "Here lieth the body of Louis Caldy, Esq., anativeof Montpellier, inFrance, which country he left on account of th revocation. He was swallowed up by the earthquake which oocnrred at thaf place in 1692, but by the great providence of God was, by a second shock, flung into the sea, where he continued swirumiug till rescued by a boat and liveü 4U years atterwarü.
