An old Peebles worthy and an English lady were cue day recently occupants of a railway carriage in au Edinburgh bonud train. The train had been waiting long at a certaiu station, and there was uo appearauce of its starting, when the worthy remarked, "They're a gey taiglesome lot here. " "I beg your pardon," said the lady. "I'ni sayin they're an awfu' daidlin squad here," said the old fellow. "I really beg your pardon, sir, " sha rejoined. "I'iu remarkin they're a vera dreioh lot here the nicht," the old gentlemau further ventured. "Really, I must again beg your pardon," said the lady, with marked erubarrassmeut, "but I do not comprehend y ou. " "I was just tryiug to say the train was late," he finally blnrted.
