Perhaps the strangest fad that any man bas in this town is that of a cashier in a down town bank, who every night at 10 o'clock walks up Fifth avenue to Forty-third street for the purpose of seeing whether or not a certain milliotiaire's front door has crape tied on it. For f our years he has made this nightly journey. fle.doesn'' know the millionaire. He doesn't know any reason why the millionaire's death should be lmminent. Yet he has a superstition that when he discovers the crape he looks for, on that same night some great good fortune is to f all to his own lot. He has tried to shake off the feeling that sends him on this nightly walking tour. It won't shake. And, rain or shine, he goes religiously up and down the avenue at 10 o'clock every night.
