Sprin-gfield, 111., Jan. 22.- Advices from varioub parte of the State teil of great suf fering from lack of water. Many wolls and cisterns in Lexington and the surrouading country are dry. The latest iudustry in the vicinity consists of cutting ica in the creek and sellirig it for seventy-üve cents a load. Water is so scarce in Bureau County that cattle in many neighborhoods are suffering stverely for the lack of it. The public wells of Atlanta, which have nearly gone dry, are being fllled with water drawn from acoal shaft in theneighborhood. The water from the shaft is used by many hundreds of people, farmers for miles around going there with boxes and barrels for a supply.
