The couocil met ia regular eesaion Friay evening. In the absence of Recorder Pond, Aid. Almendinger was elected ecorder pro tem. Minutes of the previous meeting read aad approved. A petition was presented signed by ighteen property owners asking tor an lectric light at the corner of Catherine and División st?, or Catherine and Fifthts. Referred to the street lighting committee. Also one signed by gixteen persons askor an eleotnc light at the corner of Lawence and Thayer-sts. Referred as above. The claim of Mrs. Vaughan, for clothing alleged to have been lost in tonsequence of aking care of dipiheria patients, came up again, and was declared out of order, as it had been settled at the last meeting, by lisallowing it. The flnance committee made the followng report for the month of March : Firet ward fund Í 11 65 Third " ' - 1 '5 Fourth " " - ' 61 htlh " " ........ - 2 25 Jeneral street fund - 57 28 fund 577 40 Contingent fund 556 25 Total Í12U OS The street lighting committee reported that the matter of placing new electric lights be referred to the new counoil. They were of the opinión, however, that the light at the corner of Huron and Jewett-stg be removed to the corner oí Huron and Main-sts, and that the light near the city milis be raised ten leet or more so as to throw the light over the Toledo railroad bridge. The committee to whom was referred the claim of Mra. Gilbsrt, f r $500, for damages 6uatained by falling through a defectivo sidewalk reported ia favor of allowing her $50. The yeas and nays being called the report was accepted. The committee to whom waa referred the matter of placing a drinking fountain on court house square reported thataguitable fountain could be purchased for $128, and that itjjwould cost the city $75 per year for water. Accepted. The committee to whom was referred the matter of transferring the old lery into a park, reported that they deemed it advisable, and that a sufficient ength of time be given to those who had relatives or Iriends buried there to remove them. In oase they were not removed hey were ia favor of haring the gravel eveled down. The reportd was aotepted. The matter of opening up Detroit-st to he new depot catne up and reoeived its usual ainount of discussion, but nothicg definite was done. Kearus that a gold dollar be procured and that it be suitably enraved and presen ted to the mayor for his year's services. Unanimously carried. The election returns were canvassed and tound nearly as printed in The Register last week. Aid. Steere formally resigned hii position as alderman of the sixth ward. By Aid. Kearns: "Resolved, That we tender His Honor, the Mayor, a vote of thanks for the impartial manner in which he has pre8ided over our deliberations." Unanimously adopted. The mayor than arose and in a few words thanked the aldermen for the courteous treatment he had reoeived at tbeir hands during his administration. He reccommended that the council amend the charter so as to pay the mayor $300 per year and the aldermen $2.00 a session.
