Two more Japs have arrived. The freshmen will hold a banquet May 6ch. The new bats for the base ball club have arrived. The base ball team has been photographed. The new catalogue was issued last Thursday. It is estimated that at least 55 students own and ride a bicycle. A public exhibition will be given at the Gym., Friday eveniDg, April 22. The '88-'89 foot ball game has been poetponed until Saturday April 30th. The eophomores will give a banquet at Hangsterfer's Saturday evening, April 23. The New York alumni association of the University will not hold a banquet this year. The lat nuai' er oí the Students State - man contained a portrait of our own A. E. Jemiings. '88's rugby team was out in force Thursday afternoon, on the campus, e'zing up iU" spring lege." The freshmen foot ball team play in Detroit Saturday. The Detroits will play here the Saturday following. Henderson, law '87, made 21 speeches in northern Michigan, in favor of the probibitory amendment Prof. C. S. Dennison will deliver a lecture on "maps"before the Engineering Society, Saturday evening. Mrs. President Angelí presided over the session of the Women's Board of Missions of the Interior, held in Detroit last week. At the antual meeting of the Woman's Board of MiBsions for the Interior, htld in Detroit lait week, Mrs. Dr. Angell.was ra-elected president. J. Halstead, '87, R S. Park, '87 and F. G. Plain, '88, represenled the local chapter of Phi Kappa Psi at their fourih district convention in Chicago last week. The Michigan alumni associaticn of Chi Psi held its 9th annual reunión at the Detroit club house last Saturday e veiling. The undergraduate chapter was in attendance. At a meeting, March 23d, the Webster Society elected the following officers: President, A. C. White ; vice president, J' V. Saeehan ; secretary, L. L. Dennett; treasurer, T. W. Byrmes; marshal, W. E Walsh. The senior class held another meeting in Room A, Saíurday morcing and l6tened to a lengtby report from the eommittee on " caps and gowuB." Aftera considerable and spinted discussion the motion to get them was lost. The q-iestion of class hats was referred back to the eommittee to report next week. Prof. J. W. Langley received an invitation, Monday, from Sir Henry Roecoe, of London, president of the British association for the advancement of science, to attend the next meeting, in August, as a guest of the association. The Argonaut: Prof. Hutching, who, we are sorry to say, has accepted the position of senior professor of law in Cornell University, is now on an inspection tour of the eastern college?. He has by his attentive and conscientious labor while in this department, so endeared himself to all the students that it is with the greatest reluctance they are forced to lose him. May laurels of well earned success crown him in his new field of labor. The University prohibition club met Saturday morning and elected the following officere : A. E. Jennings, president; J. E. Hodge, vice president; E. S. Bhaw, secretary; R. C. McAUaster, corresponding secretary; A. M. Hussey, treasurer; and rice presidente from each of the departments including the High School. A general prohibition conventipn will be held in the opera house in this city, May 6th and Tth. Delégate? from all educational institutions in the state wi!I be present
