At a reeular meeting of the friends of temperance, held at Cropsey's Hall, on Sunday last, the sad intelligence was received of the sudden death of David Preston, of Detroit. A number of person present expressed deep sorrow in effectionate words on the unexpected event and also desired tbat a commitiee might be appointed to make the necessary arrangements for a more public opportunity, to show their high estimation of one who for so many years had rendered great service in the interests of humanity. A committee was appointed for such purposes and have completed the arrangements for a " memorial service," to be held at the opera boue, on Sanday next, at 3 o'clock, p. m. Rev. Dr. Ramsay, pastor of the M. E. church, who was for some years pastor of the C. M. E. church, of Detroit, to which church Mr. Preston belonged, will deliver an address commemorative of the life and services of the deceased.
