Senator Harper was in the city Tuesday. E. B. Pond was in Coldwater last Saturday. A. W. Hamilton was in Jackson Wednesday. Earnest Lu'z s clerking for Wines & Worden. Hon. A. J. Sawyer was in Lanaing, Wednesday. Herman Hutzel leaves for E'gin, Hls., next week. Judge Crowf oot, of Howell, was in the city Monday. W. W. Wines is in New York buying a new stock of carpets. Sam Langsdorf and W. W. Watts was in Detroit last Saturday. Mrs. G. Josenhans is spending the week in Detroit visiting a sister. Hon. James G. Blaine passed through tbis city, Tuesday evening. Mrs. G. E. Stnith, of Detroit, is the guest of Mrs. W. A. Haten, jr. Mrs. W. W. Touvelle, of Wauseon, Ohio, was in the city Wednesday. J. T. Pittiman, of the U. 8. pension office, was in the city, Wednesday. D. E. Loucks, manager of tbe commission house, was in Detroit oyer Sunday. Wm. G. Dieterle is spending the week in Chicago and Grand Rapids buying goods. Mrs. O'Callagham, of Detroit, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Lizzie Bowdish, in this city. Rev. W. W. Ramsay was in Detroit, Tuesday, attending the funeral of David Preston. Emery Townsend, an East Saginaw lawyer, has been in the city the past few days visiung friends. Miss Karie Pfeifle, of Emery, has been visiting her cousius, Misses Amanda and Louise Walz, the past week. Mrs. Ctiarlotte Ulrey, of Kulamszoo, has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Win. Noble in this oity, the past week. Dr. Hal. C. Wyman, of the state board of health, made the Washtenaw county poor house an official visit last Friday. Charlie Latimer, of Chicago, was in the city the first of the week visiling old friends. Prosecuting Attorney Norris and 0. S. Fall are in Manchester today, attending the case brougut against the county by Lenawee county. General 0. B. Wilcox, who was lately retired on account of his age, has arrived home. He and his family expect to spend the suinmer in Europe. H. Banister was called to Owosso, Tuesday, on account of the suddtn illness or his sister, Mrs. Lyons, a former resident of this city. She died before he reached there. Prof. E. Baur: Returned after a week's visit to Bay Port, Huron Co., Mich. My son Bertrand caught a beautiful 8 months eld female jet black bear. If the University had a zoological garden, which it should have, at least containing onr own wild beaats, I would be glad to dónate to it this fine specimen. Can't you find a rich man who would dónate such a park to the University ?
