HOKKIBLE TALES OF CHIME. Utica, N. Y., Juue 11.- Clarence Arthur, aged twenty-five years, a lock-tender near Boonville, stabbed Josephine Rose, with whom he was living, threw her into the canal, took lier out, stabbed her again, and then hid her body in the bushes. He has been arrested. Jealousy was the cause. Louisville, Ky., June 11.- Charles DeJarnette, son of a well-to-do farmer of Grant County, Ky., invitad a farm hand named John" Braden to drink with him. Braden ref used, and DeJarnette shot Uim twice, inflicting dangerous wounds. Braden, in self-defense, brained DeJarnette with the doubletree of a wagon. Dallas, Tex., June 14.- J. T. AUisonshot and killed Henry Scott, his son-in-lavv, at Delon, Tex., Sunday. Scott dangerously woundéd Allison in the fight. Scott married Allison's daughter recently, but sho had returned to her father. Seott was iorcing her to return to his homo at the ,time of the shooting. Chattanoooa, Tenn., June 14. - Cleveland, Tenn., is in the wildest excite ment over developments in the shooting of M iss Irene Fann by Will Guess. It was supposed the killing was accidental, but it now develops that it was a cold-blooded murder. Il is learned that Guess killed Miss Fann because she whipped his little sister for an infraction of the rules of the schooL The authorities are investigating the case. Guess has fled. Philadblphia, Juno 13. - Mrs. Anna Griffith, in a fit of insanity Saturday morning at her home, 627 South Nineteenth street, cut the throat of her ten-year-old daughter Mabel with a razor and then drew the weiinon across her own throat, dying almost instantly. The child died in a few hours. Mrs. Grifflih had been ill for some time, and her mental and physical tondition had of late been growing worse. Yazoo City, Miss., June 13.- Captain A. J. Landman was brutally murdered near tere Saturday nisjht by Walter and Ben Collum because of an old feud. Houstox, Tex., June 13.- Saturday morning an Englishman from London conimitted suicide here by taking morphine. Kenia, O., June 13- Saturday night near Jamestown, Peter Betters, (colored), an ex-penitentiary convict, killed Mrs. ilartha Thomas, a widow (colored), sixtyfive years old, with whom he boarded. SAVANXAn, Mo., June 13. - During a quarrel Saturday af ternoon Jas per Rhodes hit G. N. Scurlock, his brother-in-law, with ascantling, killing him. Owesseoro, Ky., June 13.- Yesterday morning Wallace Harden killed James Williams for insulting hismother. Sf Brookltn, June 14.- Stephen Pool (colored) shot his wife in ths breast yesterday, causing a wound that will prove fatal. He then shot himself, not seriously, but succeeded in ending his life with a razor.
