Topkka, Kan., July ia- The Kansas river reeetitly assumed a dark-ren color throughoot its lenjth, to the great dismay of the people living on its banks, who are remindod by old settlers that the phenomenon was last witnessed in the "cholera" year of 1855. It is said that many boys have been made ill by bathing in the river since it assumed the emerald hue, and the residents of the Kaw valley fear that an epidemie is impending.
