The principal feature of the "Lincoln Life" in the August Century will be the account of Lincoln's famous Cooper IoBtitute speech, which was an important though unintentional step in the direction of his Presidency. But this installment will also include accounts of Linceln's Ohio speeches, John Brown's raid and Lincoln's view of ït, and the Charleston Democratie Convention of 1860. The authors of the Life use the letters MS. to ehow not only that they have quoted from original manuscript authority, but also that the MS. quoted has not, to their" knowledge, heretofore appeared in print The foot-notes of this, as of other installments, are dotted by this MS. 6ign, thu showing at a glance the original characte8 of the work.
