Gbbexfield, Mass., July 2(5.- Sunday's freshets caused twenty-five washouts and eleven landsüdes between Miller's Falls and Erving, a distauce of six miles. At Miller's Falls a torrent iinderininoJl the Fitchburg ireigkt depot Sunday, tore a chasm sixty feet wiJe and twelve feot deep into which freight and coal cars dropped end up. The torrent rushed down the steep Incline to the river, 20.' feet, tearing a gorge twenty frfet deep and fifty feet wide, undermining th coal-sheds and suade-trees in its passage. South of the Lake House is another .u ly ten feet deep and flftcen feet witle, A portioa of the south end of tb.3 building s undermineJ. Pine meadow to the hisrhwuy bridge at Northfiell Farm is washed away, and the highwny bndges between Miller's Falls ar.d Krving are all gone, and trfcvel between Miller's Falls and Northfleld is cut off. It will be fully two weeks before the railroad is anywhere near repaired. A large numtoer of Boston passeugers are delayed at Miller's Falls unable to get through and are liable to remain several days, unless the water subsides so that passage by team can be made around the scène of the disaster. Of the flvc washouts mentioned above either oae is large enough te engulf a train, and it is a wonder that no fatalities have resulted. ïhere is a general blockade óf trafile both sides of Ervinaj. A waterspout struck the highway between Greenfield and Lake Pleasant Sunday, leaving a hole thirty feet loug, four feet deep and ten leet wide. The principal culverts on the highway between Montague aftd Montague City have been washed out, seriously delaying travel, and small towns have suffered severely. All the washout9 are within a radius of slx miles. No mails or papers have got through from the East since Sunday morning. Gebat Barrington, Mass., July 26.- The greatest damage done by the flood is in the valleys of Green and Block Grocery rivers. The foundations and machinery of the Mallorys' foundry on the latter streaj were badly damaged and half a dozen employés had narrow escapes. A sixtj-foot bridge, worth ï4l),000, was carried away from that point. The total loss in the valley is ÍOOO.OOO. Ban-gor, Me., July 26.- A heavy rainBtorm, which prevailed since Saturday up to last night, has resulted in serious washouts on the Maine Central railroad. Between Vassalboro and Burnham five washouts are reported. Canajoharie, N. Y., July 23. - The heav' iest rain-storm for the time of duration in years visited the Hohawk valley yesterday. Growing grain was washed down and roadways were washed out. Stone cellars are flooded and creeks are greatly swollen. Dovbb, N. H., July 26.- A freshet in Lamprey river at Newmarket carried away yesterday morning a large part of the old ;dam of Newmarket cotton milis; also the foundation of No. 1 pieker milis. An engine and derrick employed sometimes in constructing a new dam were swept away.
