Pottle, of Manchester, was in the city yesterday, on business. Prof. B. E. Nichols is attending a teachers' institute in Adrián. Mrs. Geo. Douglass is visiting relatives and friends at ürchard Lake. Prof. Volney M. Spalding aud family left, Monday, for New York City. Walter Booth has gone to Pdtoskey, where he is rnanaging a base ball club. Wood and family will go to Detroit, Monday, where they will take the boat for Mackinac and Duluth. Mr. and Mrs. H. Randall are in Chicago, this week. Moore, lit '87, has been appointed professor of Latin and French in the Georgetown, Kentucky, college, at a 8alary of $1,200 per year. W. R. Hendricks, of Hummelatown, Pa., who has been visiting hls brother, Dr'. Hendricks, for the past few weeks, returned home Monday evening. Prof. W. H. Pettee and family left Monday for New York for a visit. The professor will attend the annual meeting of the "American Association for the Advancement of Science," of which he is secretary. A letter from J. E. Beal, received today, reports himself in company with Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Goodyear at Beach Haven, New Jersey, one of the famous watering place resorts of the Atlantic coast, and hsving a fine time. - Courier. Miss Hortense A. Darling, first assistant teacher of Woolsley grammar school, New Haven, Conn., neice of Mrs. Stickney, is stopping a lew days at the latter's residence, on her return from the National Teachers' Convention, at Chicago.
