The loss of lif e during the last two years has been appalling, nearly four hundred human Uves hsving been sacriflced by the negllgence of tho railroada During the year 1885 148 persous were killed at crossings. The fatalities increased to 184 during the year 1886, while the record for this year bids fair to outstrip any previous record in the history of Chicago.
