'87, and member of the Uuiversity Glee Club, is the clerk of the Island House, on Mackinac Island. The Sunday-school teachers of the Zion church spent last eveuing at the residence of Mr. and Mr?. Frederick Schmid, on S. Fifth-st. Dr. Dorrance and family are in Jackson today, attending the wedding of his sister, Mrs. Marv D. Bishop, of South Otselic, New York. Misses Mattie Cadwell and Bessie Adams, of Eaton Rapids, are visiting Genevieve and Bessie Kittredge, at 25 South Division-st. Wm. Greve is visiting in Northfield today and tomorrow. William says he will cease making these visits after the second Tuesday in September. Miss Clara Mack and Miss Jane Manon are expected home from Charlevoix, Saturday evening, where they have been visiting for the past two months. Miss Bertha Baur, secretary and tress of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Musie, is yisiting her parents, Prof. Baur and family on W. Huron-st. J. A. Buss, who went west last spring, ■ writes back that he has secured employment in San Diego, California, with the San Diego Flume Co., and that he likes the country firstrate. Prof. Chas. Gay ley, who has been in Europe the past year, will return to accept the position in the University made vacant by the resignation of Prof. Burt. G. F. James, A. B., lit. '8G, assistant librarían in the University last year, will leave the last of the week for Decatur, 111., where he will teach Latin and Germán in the high school. Mrs. Rev. F. L. Osborne and children of Unionville, who have been spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. N. Cooper of this city, returned to their heme to-day. D. F. Schairer left Tuesday mormng for Asbury Park, New York, for a couple cf weeks' recreation, after which he will visit New York, Philadelphia and Boston, to purchase new goods. N. D. Corbin, lit '86, who has been stopping in the city this summer, left last Saturday for Chicago, where he will visit a short time prior to taking a position in the schools at Laporte, Ind. Miss Lizzie O. Morgan, of Cincinnati, an arti8t of considerable ability, and Miss Minnie Morgan, of t'ae University of Virginia, were guests of Prof. E. Baur and family, on W. Huron-st, last week. W. W. Campbell, lit. 86, who has been studying at the observatory during the vacation, returned to Boulder, Colorado, Wednesday, where he is professor of mathematica in the State L niversity. Fifth-st, in this city, September 1, 1887, where she will be pleased to receive orders from the ladies of this city and vicinity. Dr. and Mrs. Martin returned Saturday from fire weeks of delightful camping out on Coldwater and Clark's lakes. Dis. W. A. Campbell and wife are still at Clark's lake. Great fish stories they all teil now. A. L. Noble left Monday evening for New York and Boston, to purchase his f all and winter stock of clothing. Miss Edith accompanied him as far as Alblon, N. Y., where she will visit until her father's return. A. D. Itailway Postal Clerke' Mutual Benefit Association, which holds a three days' annual session in Detroit, beginning September 6th. Prof. I. N. Demmon is conducting the teachers' institute at Hillsdale this week. Whitman returned Tuesday from a delightful trip begun July 4th They rode on their bicycles to Albany, on the boat down the Hudson to New York, and by boat, rail and bicycle via. Boston and other famous cities, back again. They rode 1000 miles on their wheels while going and had the best time in their lives.
