The Pioneers' Special Meeting
Upon invitation of the executive committee of the farmers' picnic, the county pioneer society held the special meeting provided for in its by-laws, at Whitmore Lake, last Saturday, and enjoyed the picnic on the same day. The society held an informal meeting in the hall of the Lake House, at 10 a. m., with president Cornwell in the chair, and J. Q. A. Sessions, temporary secretary, in place of Mr. Davis, who is sick. A resolution accepting the invitation of the farmers' picnic management to meet with themnextyear.was accepted. A committee to suggest the names of officers to be voted for at the regular annual meeting of the society on the first Monday of September, reported as follows : For President, W. P. Groves, of Northfield; secretary, J. Q. A. Sessions ; treasurer, E. Sampson, Ypsilanti ; necrologist, E. D. Lay, Ypsilanti ; executive oommittee, Geo. Sutton, David DePue, O. H. Wines, F. E. Finley and I. N. S. Foster. Resolutions were adopted thanking .E. W. Morgan for his gift of many old papers and books published in the early times of the county ; also providing for the hetter preservation and care of the articles in the pioneers' room in the court house. Mr. M. H. Goodrich urged a full attendance at the annual meeting, when matters of great importance will come up.
