Justice Frueauff was a Dimdee yisitor Tuesday and Wednesday. Albert Sorgmale a visit to Chicago the first of the week, on business. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Goodyear returned from the sea-shore Sunday evening. Miss Jane Mahan started for Boston, Monday, to visit relativos and friends. J. J. Gibson returned Monday from a week's visit to frienis in Indianapolis. Jas. Robison, of the Detroit Free Press, is spending a couple of weeks at home. Oscar Schmid is one of a hunting party that is foraging in northern Minnesota. John Goodspeed, of the firm of Goodspeed & Son-, is rusticating in the U. P. Miss Mamie Bliss has returned from her visit to friends in Charlotte and 01:- vet. Christian Mack started Monday for New York City, to purchase a stock of new goods. Theodore Royer, of Belleville, is the guest of Mrs. Royer, corner of División and Ann-sts. Mrs. Dr. C. W. Mead, of Dun 'ee, has been visiting relatives in this city for the past few days. Mrs. E J. Biiss and Mrs. Sellick W'ool leave to-day for a visit to Jackson, Lansing and Howell. Prof. C. N. Jones returned Saturday evening, from an ex'ended trip through the eastern states. Frank Thompson, oL Parke, Da vis & Co., of Detroit, visited his pa.ents in this city over Sunday. Prof. E. Schmid, of Columbus, Ohio, made h;s mother, Mrs. Rev. Schmid, a visit over Sunday. Mrs. John M. Chase, of Denver, Colorado, formerly of this city, is the guest of Mrs. Judge Joslyn. Mrs. E. Jt. Chapin, of N. Ing&lls-st, returned Saturday from her visit to Charlevoii and Boyne City. Bliss, daughter Gertie and son Vinnie, have returned from Portage Lake, where they have been camping. Eugene Mann has purchased the residence at No. 46 Fifth-st, of Mack & Schmid. Consideration, $2,500. The Misses Taylor are expected home this week from Topinabee, where they have been spending the summer. Dr. and Mrs. W. H. Jackson are visitiug this week his only sister, whom he has not seen in twenty years, at La Salie, 111. Stafford, the tailor, has just returned from New York with all the latest novelties in domestic and imported Euitings. Mrs. N. H. Drake and daughters, who have been camping at Whitmore Lake for several weeks, have returned to the city. Edward B. Childs haa resigned his position in the seoretary's office of the University, and moved to Ohio with his parents. Fred. Wallace goes to Cnattanooga, Term., about Sept. lOth. He is carrying on a fine real estáte business in that fast growing city. Rev. Mr. Plummer, oí Pittsburgh, P8., ocoupied the pulpit of the Presbyterian church last Sunday, and will do likewise next Sunday. T. Sohmid, who has been visiting his brother, Frederick Sohmid, tor the past two weeks, returned to his home in Chicago, Monday. Hon. Geo. W. Crowfoot, instead of Crawiord, is the name of the gentleman who came to this city from Howell to edúcate his son. Albert Blaess, started last Wednesday for a two months' visit to his old home in Antwerp, Belgium. This is his gixth visit to the old cjuntry. Prof. Belmont Waples, one of the most capable teachers in the State, left yesterday for Marshall, where he is superintendent of the city schools, Bro. Stewart Cramer has accepted the position of assistant engineer on the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern railroad. He left for Toledo, Tueiday, to assume his new duties. Hon. A. J. Sawyer and fa mily returned from Cavanaugh Lake, Monday, where they have been camping for some time. Prof. J. O. Knowlton and family returned Wednesday. Wm. H. Walker and mother, Mrj. H. C. Walker and brother Henry, returned Jlonday from a pleasant trip to Duluth. Mr. W. will study for a Master's degree the coming year. Dr. and Mrs. V. C. Vaughan, Mr. and Mre. E. H. Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Sumner, and Mrs. Kintner comprised a party that spent Sunday at Cavanaugh Lake with Ann Arbor campers. It cast a sort of pall over our spirits when we discovered that we called Paul Perry by his brother'a name, Ernest, in our item last week, when we tried most earnestly to have it all right. Fred. W. Sohulz and family left the city yesterday, for Detroit, to attend the wedding oí a cousin. They expect to be absent Rbout a week, having other friends and relatives to visit in the city. Mrs. A. W. Hamilton went to Grand Rapids, Monday, for a two weeks' visit with her sister, Mrs. C. H. Perkins. Master Will Perkins, who has been spending the summer with Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton, returned with her. Rev. E. W. Childs' present address is Granville, Lioking county, Ohio, whither he moved with his family last week. The kind wishes of the many friends made during his stay here will foilow this family to their new and pleasant Ohio home. Soule returned Monday from Topinabee, where he and his family have been epending the sumtner. The Major spent last week at Union City, attending the annual re union of the soldiers and sailors of south-wetern Michigan. His family will return in about two weeks. Julius V. Seyler, of the Detroit Conservatory of Musió, son of X. D. Seyler, of this city, will sail from New York September 8th, on the steamer Pennsylvania, for Germaty, where he will spend a year studying mnsic in Berlin and other cities. He will also visit Ireland, England and Scotland. Dre. V. C. Vaughan, Geo. E. Frothingham, W. J. Herdman, Geo. E. Hendricks and John VV. Keating, left this morning for Washington, D. C, to attend the meeting of. the International Medical Congress, which meets in that city next week. Dr. Vaughan will read a paper before the sect ion of pathology on " Tyrotoxicon," and one betore the section of diseases of children, on the " Use of Cows' Milk in the Artificial Feeding of Infants."
