Geo. Miner is quite ill with fever. Miss Myrta Hamner is visiting in Plymouth. Rev. and Mrs. McCorkle have returned from Bay View. Miss Florence Goodison has returned from her Petoskey visit. Chas. R. Whitm&n and family arerusticating at Cavanaugh Lake. Charlie and Lillie Tower, of Detroit, are guests of Mrs. L. Cooper. Miss Minnie Perkins, of Manchester, is visiting friends in the city. Mr. Geo. Alexander, of Huron-st, is very ill with nervous prostration. Prof. Cleary, of the Business College, spent last Sunday at St. Clair flats. The Normal students will gather from near and from far about the 13th inst. This nice, cool weather is not to be sneezed at, unless you have the hay fever. Miss Ida Lamkin, of Tiffin, Ohio, is visiting her father, Mr. Nelson Chamberlain. Mr. Will McCorkle, of Detroit, spent Sunday with his parents, Rev. and Mrs. McCorkle. Mrs. Will Kimball, nee Alice Putnam, has accepted a position in St. John's public schools. Miases Fannie Kief and Maggie Wise left today for Charlotte, where they will teach this year. Mrs. Alice Cook is again on duty at Samson's drug store, having recovered from her long illness. Miss Minuie Sullivan, of the Manchester schools, is spending this week with Ypsilanti friends. Mrs. B. G. Harris, of Norvell, spent last Friday with her daughter, Mrs. Kirchhofer, at the Sanitarium. Guy Haywood, of Detroif, is spending a short time with his paren ts, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Haywood, of Prospect-st. W. P. Stone, the Union Block grocer, has moved his family into the house on Washington-st, recently vacated by Dr. Owen. Miss Gertie Noble has returned from Detroit. She will board with Miss Ellen Whitman on Cross-st, the coming school year. Union school children are hunting up their books and new clotb.es in order to present themselves in good shape next Tuesday morning. Profs. Putnam and Shepard have returned from the school institute at Brockway Centre, feeling much pleased over the success of the affair. John Howland is the happy recipiënt of news telling him thatsome land of his, way out west, has risen in value, and he is going to see about it. The members of the Catholic Mutual Benefit association went to Detroit, Tuesday, to particípate in the grand reunion of that order, which took place at Belle Isle. Mr. B. Tibbals, who recently moved his family to Riverside, Cal., from this eitv. has Durchased ten acres at ide, for $12,000, and will raise oranges, lemons, grapes, etc. Every one entitled to vote at school meeting is urged to be on hand Monday, the 5th, at the Union school building. Two new trustees are to be appointed, besides other important work. The $60,000 appropriation for the Normal will be expended by building a department for the study of physical and natural science and young men's study hall, and also a building for the library, ladies' study hall and society rooms. Hess & Boseman, of Detroit, are the architects.
