Swept By Fire

Jacksonville, Fia, Sept 24.- The business portion of the town of Sanford was nearly destroyed early Thursday morning by a fire which started in a bakery. The loss is $300,000 and the insurance is very email. Gbavenhukst, Ont, Sepfc 24.- A fire which originated in Mowrey's foundry at the north end of the town burned every business house in this place yesterday. The loss is about $200,000, while the insurance is smalL The buildings were very inflammable and the fiames, driven by a strong north wind, soon did their work of destruction. Forty-flve places of business and thtrty-eight dwellings were destroyed, and fully flfty families are without food and shelter. Assistance is greatly needed.
