It afforded us much pleasure a short time since to announce a very liberal Bubscriptioa to the Chrietian Association for the new building which they propose to erect in the near future. They have a fine lot which has increased in value since purchased, and the contemplated building will be an ornament to the city, and most admirably adopted to the end designed. It will certainly meet a long feit want and place this excellent organization on a eubstantial foundation. We must offer our warmest congratulations to our earnest young friends who are engaged in this work on this favorable turn in their financial affairs, and will rejoice with them to see the building erected and equipped according to the proposed plan. This association is doing a most excellent work among its members, who are gathered together from all parts of the world, and is a power in the University: We are gratified thatthe good people of our state are beginning to appreciate the endeavors exerted on behalf of morality and religiĆ³n at this educational centre. What is being accomplished on their behalf is not fully known, for their work is carried on without the flourish of trumpets. We have been aware of the fact that they conduct several conference meetings among their members, and hold their Bible classes, and miesionary asBemblies. Their large gatherings on Sunday morning in the chapel have attracted the attention of from abroad. But this is not all. They do much outside work in the way of counsel and encouragement. They go after the new corners and seek to interest them in good works. The handbook which they present, wiih their compliments, to the new students is filled with most valuable information. They do undoubtedly exert a most happy influente in the Uniyersity and city, and we take warmest pleasure in Bpeaking a good word, on this first week of the year, on behalf of the most popular and useful Student's Christian Association.
