A MOHE VENGEANCE Delphi, Ind , Oot 24 - Amer Green, the alleged murdercr of Luella Mabhitt, who was taken trom jail here Friday midnight by su anned molí, was hanged to a tree Saturday morning in Walnut Grove, near where it is mipposed he mnrdereil the girl whoni he had abducted. When the mob reached the scène of the hanging two bonfires were burning there. "I hope you are not going to burn me. You have come out here to murder me and are going to do it, but do it like ctvilized men." "Gire him the stake!" "Burn him!" "Torture a confession out of him!" carne f rom the crowd. The leader of the mob to'd Green he must either produce Luella Mabbitt or die. He called for Mr. Mabbit, the father of the missing girl, and, stand n? face to face with him, stated that Luella was alive and living with a man named Samuel Pane, at Fort Worth, Tex. He was asked why he had not produced her, and said his attorneys advised him to the contrary. Conviuced that he was Iving; a rope was etretched around his neck by the mob, and he was drawn under the tree. Green etood up on the seat as ereet as a statue, his hands pinioned and the rope so tightly drawn that he was almost choked. He declared his innocence and asked that his mother bc informed of his fate and that he be buried by the side of his sister at Hebron, O. The horses gave a lurch forward, and Amer Green was suspended between earth and 6ky. His body was ent down at 9 o'clock Saturday morninc, after it had been viewed bv thousanda There is great excitement throughout this county over the lynchinfr. Green's record was very bad. A diary of his found af ter his flight to Texas disclosed the fact that he had wrought the ruin of sixty-five girls and married women. Peku, Ind., Oct '24. - Rumors are rife npon the street that lynchers are coming to hang Bill Green, the brother of Amer, who was hanged by a mob uear Delphi. Nothing definite can be leamed. Governor Gray has telegraphed the sheriff of this county to protect the prisoners at all hazards, and as a consequence an extra force of deputies have been sworn. Gatlingguns have been placed in the jail corridor and the jail is patrolled nightly. Dixphi, Ind., Oct 25. - Excitement prevails here over a report that Luella Mabbitt, for whose murder Amer Green was lynched, has arriveS in town.
