Turner, clerk of the court in O'Brien Oouny, Ia, giving the actual f acts in the aleged cases of the cruel eviction of Bettlere by Britieh land-holders in that county. After givinsr the legal hiítory of the 116 caees brought by the Western Land uompany, which purchased the land from the St Paul Bailroad Company, on which the settlere had ülegally squatted, Turner positively asserts that every allegation of crnelty is unqnalifiedly false, and that the shocking record of sufieringK entailed upon men and eick and helpless women is purely Imaginary. Out of the 116 cases in which judgment was rendered in favor of the land company Turner says there were only twelve evictions, and they were quietlv and deoently effected.
