Washington, Oct. 22. - General Green B. Raum, chairman of the local conimittee appolnted to provide for the erection of a statue to General Logan at the National capital, was called npon by Colonel Alberto Víalo, of the Mexican arn)y,yesterday, and iufonned that the American colony in íexico, together wlth a nnmber of Mexicana, had obtained and desired to present to the Monument Committee an onyx slab from the Mexican mines. The slab, which is two and one-half feet square, cost $1,000 in Mexico. It s now in New York, ajid will be at onoe sent here to the committee, who will reqnest Mra Logan to be the enstodian of it untü the monument shall be completed. It is expected that the soldiere will contribnte the fnnd for the monument, and CongTess will undoubtedly furnish a suitable place to erect it upon some of the Government reservtttion.
