Chicaoo.Not. 21.- The contract for the newlake tunnel was formally executed 8aturday afternoon, and Andrew Onderdank,of New York, to whoin it was awarded, tlled a bond in the sum of $500,000 for the proper fulnllineiit of tiie terms of the agreement a R Cummings, WilHam E. Howard and George S. Willebta are the Ijondsmen. The tunnel is to extend trom the south end of Iake Park four miles into the lake.and Is to be eight feet in diameter. I'rom the eastern end the tunnel is to be extended to some site not yet designated where puxnpiag works will be erected. The estlmated oost of work and material is $148,000.
