Cousins & Ilall's horse was hitched in front of Schuh & Muhlig's yesterday, when it was frightened by a bicycle which was rested against a telephone pole, and it broke loose, rushed to Baoh Sc Abel's store, evincing a strong desire to go right tbrough the Iront window. Fortunately, W. S. Gabrelski, of Baoh & Abel's, turned the horse down. Washington-st. If it had kept on its course on the sidewalk on Main-st, some one probably would have been injured. On Washington -st, the wagon which the horse was drawing smashed a carriage and threw a hoise down but did no further damage. The Register Printing and Publishing Company has just received the contract of printing a book of Meteorological Tables made by Prof. Henry Allen Hazen of the U. S. Signal office in Washington. Tt will be a book of about 120 pages of tables, and represents an immense amount of patiƫnt labor by Prof. Hazen. There is much talk of petitioning the iaculty that the University be closed Dec. 21 instead of the 23d as the calendar announces for the commencement of the holiday recess. As the date given in the calendar gives less time than usual for the students 10 arrive home before Christmas, sucb a petition should receivesorne notice.
