Sioux City, Ia, Deo. 2. - In the Arenedorf trial on Thursday Six witnesses froni Montlcello. Ia. , swore that the general moral character of Mra Potter, oue oí the witnesses f or the defense, was bad. G. H. Cummings testifled that J. H. Taylor told him that Arensdorf had left the Shepherd saloon the night of the murder in plenty of time to go to Junk' s saloon and to get to the place where Mr. Haddock waB murdered. Taylor is the witness who testified that Arensdorf was in the Shepherd saloon at about the time of the rourder. Bioux City, Ia., Dec. a- Friday was one of the most important in the trial of John Arensdorf for the murder of Bev. George C. Haddock. A large number of witnesses were examined, contradicting and impeaching the main witnessea for the defense. The climax was reached when Hon. Byron Webster, of Dubuque, United States revenue collector, took the stand and testifled that from about 10 o'clock till the fatal shot was ftred on the night of the murder he was in the Shepherd saloon and restaurant; that he Kot his supper there, and that Arensdorf was not there. The evidence was positiva The importance of this evidence consista in the faot that the Shepherd saloon is the place where Arensdorf located himself at the moment of the murder, and for eome time before, and is the vital point of the alibi. Sioux City, Ia, Dec. 5.- Saturday's seseion of court was occupied with the rebutting testimony offered by the State. Two witnesses from Cantón, D. T., testified that Hagenous, the alibi witv ness for the defense, had made exactly opposite statements of those which he Bwore to on the witness stand. The surrebuttal testimony of the defense waB Bimply six witnesses to testify to the good character of Gus Schmidt, who is one of the principal witnesses for the defense. The deiense, uBing the right to cali witnesses Monday to testify as to the character of its witness, Mrs. Potter, rested just before the adjonrnment of court Saturday evening. Sioux City, Ia., Dec. C. - All the evidence was heard in the Haddock murder case before the close of the morning seseion Monday. E. H. Hubbard began his speech to the jury, but had not finished at the evening adjournment Sioux City, Ia, Dec. 7. - Mr. Argo, leading counsel for Arensdorf, addressed the jury in behalf of his cliënt yesterday. He declared an attempt was being made to fix the crime upon the accused for political purposes, and pictured Haddock as a masked gpy armed and prepared to do violence on the fatal night
