Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Spencer, of Charlotte, are visiting friends in this city. - Prof. Cleary entertained a number of Detroit friends at the Business College halls last Saturday evening. - Perry Powers has returned from Cadillac and will contiuue in charge of the Ypsilantian during the remainder of this month. - We have our electric lights, and are well pleased, only there's trouble brewing by reason of the Brush electric company claiming an infringement on their rights in the useoi the towers. Kextthingwe may expect Ben, Franklin's ghost coming along to claim royalty on ligbtning. - The burglarizing and burning of Ainsworth & Co.'s flour and feed store last Sunday morning was one of the meaaest of all the mean deeds ever done in our city. - The thieves not being content with securing, the contents of the safe, about $100, evidently deliberately flred the building thus destroying not only the new brick store and stock of grain, fruits, etc., but also the books and important papers. The loss was fully $15,000 ; insurance $4,000. Mr. Ainsworth will rebuild very soon. - Mrs. Ella Spencer's youngest child died last week, of diphtheria, but the rest of her cliildren are recovering. - It is said that all the men here, who were directly and indirectly interested in making money out of the Bohemian oats scheme, were badly frightened over Mr. Hamnor's conviction at Flint last week; especially as it was rumored that certain irate farmers intended putting all through a course of legal sprouts very soon.
