of eree City, Mich., died in Washington this morning at 7 o'clock. He was bom in Battle Creek, in 1841. He graduated in the law department of the U. of M. in 1863, and for one year was in Judge Cooley's office. In 1870 he was elected state senator from the 31st district. In 1880 he was speaker of the Michigan house of representatiyes, and has been elecUd to Congress twice.
