Explosions And Flames
Rochester, N. Y., Dea 22.- The escape of naphtha into sewers in this city yesterday caused explosiona in Mili, Platt, State, West, Main, ïremont, Smith, Brown and other Btreets, at short intervals, blowing up the manholes and causing the greatest coneternation. Tüe flames accompanying the detonations commnnicated to the Poole, Jeflerson and Clinton milis, which were speedily destroyed. Four persons are known to have been killed by falling walls, and a number were injured by fly.ng debria Fears are expressed that the remains of BOtne victims have not been discovered. The loss on the milis is about $220,000, with heavy insurance, but the loss by damage to other buildings and to the etreeta has not yet been estimated
