Des Moines, Ia., Jan. 13. - Governor Willlam Larrabee was inaugurated for a second terra yesterday afternoon. In his inaugural address he strongly combated the doctrine of tree trade and urged the necessity of protecticn of American labor manufactures, ün the question of railroad transportation the Governor look decided ground, urgeü remedial legislation, favored the power of the railroad commisaioners, and giving to them authority to fix rates and enforce their deciRions. Speingfield, HL, Jan. 1-1. - The colored people of Springfield, in an address to the party, demand that the Republicana give the coiored voters a representative on the State ticket. They claim that the colored people cast 18,000 votes in the State and are a necessity to the party's suecess. They present the name of Samuel V. Casey, of this city, for Lieutenant-Governor. Bismarck, D. T. , Jan. 17. - Governor Church has at last issued a proclamation giving the official resulta of the recent election on the división of the Territory. The total number of votes cast was 07,618; 37,784 for división, and 32.913 against The result, barrinjr a few scattering votes, gives a majority for división of 4,781. Local option was carried in sixty-four out of the eighty-six counties. Tacoma, V. T., Jan. 17.- Both branches of the Legislature of Washington Territory have re-enacted the Woman's Suffrage law, but exempted women trom jury service. SaltLake City, U. T, Jan. 17.- A bilí was introduced in the Legislature yesterday by John M. Young, a nephew of the late Brigham Young, to suppress the practice of polygamy. Haljfax, N. S., Jan. 17.- Jeffrey McColl, a member of the Liïgislature, in a speech advocated the immcdiatt; abolition of local legislaturas and the annexation of Nova Scotia to the United States. Des Moines, Ia, Jaa 18- Both houses of the Legislature balloted for United States Senator yesterday, Senator Wilson receiving 58 ont of 89 votes cast in the House, and 30 out of 41 in the Senate. New Yoek, Jan. 18. - A special to the Times from Philadelphia says that antiBandall delegates have been chosen by the Democratie primaries to the conventions which are to elect delegates to the State convention, at which delegates to the National convention will be chosen. IsffPEMiXG, Mich., Jan. 18.- The Labor party's Congressional convention, held here Monday night, wrangled all through the evening, and did not end until after midnight They nominated Bartley Breen for Congress, who will be indorsed by the Democratie convention on the 26th at Marquette. Jackson, Miss., Jan. 18.- General E. C. Walthall was yesterday elected to be his own suceessor in the United States Senate for the iull term. beginning March 4, 1889.
