Ought To Be Investigated
The following letter to Justice Pond will be found stranger than fiction : Denver, Colorado, March 2d, 18S8. E. B. Pond, Ksq , Anu Ari or, Mich. Dkar Sie :- Un Monday last I was at a farm 15 miles from Denver, where I fnund a boy 8 or 9 years old, who knows but llttle about himself, but from wbat he eau remember it seoms that a great wrong has been done him. He remembers that bis motber was burned In an asylum, and thinks It was In Michigan. Hl father ded soon after his mother's death. After hls lather's death he was taken away from tlierc by his unele to an other state, but does not kuow the name of the state. Last spring he was brought to Denver by his unele and put in a l ardiug house to wsn dignes. The pereon who brought hlm to the boarding house caunot now be found The boy remembere that his f ther lived on a farm and had stock which makes it appear that there has beeo an attempt to lose the boy. He is uow calied Boy, but says tbat was not the name his father calied him, but does not remember what that name was. He has not been taught to read, has never been tre school, but is a bright and intelligent boy. I write you thinking yon can give me the plnce and date when your ttaie asylum was burned, and pnesibly you eau from newspaper files give the names of the female inmates who were theu burned. Possibly. the names when calied over to the boy may bring to his memory his mother's name, and thus gtve a clue to trace up the matter. Reapectfully.
